125th Anniversary Celebrations
By Josh Boyce | September 30, 2009
On August 23rd, Knightsbridge Baptist celebrated 125 years of God’s faithfulness with a special anniversary service and then a celebration banquet.
The service was a special time – with many friends from our church’s past coming back to celebrate with us, including a number of our past Pastors who shared some fond memories of their time at KBC. While there was a great thankfulness for the past (and particularly God’s faithfulness to the ministry of Knightsbridge over so many years) there was also a real sense of calling and purpose for our future as a church community. Many of our young people participated in the service in various ways, and there was a real recognition that we still have a purpose to fill – Bringing God and People Together.
After the service the celebrations continued with a beautifully catered buffet banquet. Over a spit roast, tremendous fellowship and much reminiscing with old friends ensued. We browsed the photo boards and were amazed to see the various changes that have occurred in our church since we began.
Although the buildings may have changed, and the people who fill them, we can confidently say that over 125years Knightsbridge Baptist has held fast to one unchanging truth – the reality of God’s faithfulness to this place and his desire to see us continuing to influence our community with his message of grace, love and peace.
Love in a Cup

“Love in a Cup” Café is a fund raising venture to finance the installation of Water Wells in Third World Countries.
A group of dedicated baristas and helpers provide delicious Cappuccinos, Lattes and Hot Chocolates as part of the “after church” morning tea facilities.
By selling their coffees, etc. plus some extra special fund raisers at specific times of the year, sufficient funds in the first 6 months of the year has been raised to donate to Tear Aust. for financing 1 ½ wells in Bangladesh.
The wells cost $1500 each. Because of the involvement of one of the congregational members and her work place charity work, it is anticipated that the money will be matched $ for $ and our first 6 months will have resulted in 3 wells in total, and by the end of the first year - 2009, it is hoped that 5 wells could be our target.
The usual free tea and coffee is still offered, with the option of making a donation towards the ministry.

The amazing story of Noah and God’s eternal promises was the theme of a recent service at Knightsbridge Baptist Church as the Young Church children presented a Noah musical.
The children had been preparing all term for the event, with songs to learn, backdrops to make, lines to be learnt and costumes to be assembled.
The musical began with the crèche children singing ‘Noah works with one hammer…’, and ‘Old man Noah had an ark..’ and then some of the older children had a brief discussion about the difficulties Noah faced living on the ark.
The stage was transformed as children, dressed in costumes of the era, came in to build the ark while others entered wearing animal costumes complemented by face paint.
The drama unfolded with Noah and his sons and their wives adding their thoughts about building the ark and getting all the animals aboard. Words from the Bible were read by the narrator to keep the authenticity and several thematic songs were sung by all the children at various times throughout the adventure.
As the large rainbow appeared, and the sun was bounced down the aisle there were many appreciative expressions and perhaps a sense of relief that all had gone so well.
The performance was enhanced by support from the young band of musicians.
The enthusiasm of the congregation as they joined with the children clapping and stamping in praise to the Lord, during the final chorus, enabled everyone to receive a special blessing.
It is exciting to be reminded that God keeps His promises and is always an ever-present help and support with all our undertakings.
The production team is looking forward to working with the children on another musical next year.
